HelpAge International is a global network of not-for-profit organisations with a vision of a world where older people fulfill their potential to lead active, dignified, healthy and secure lives.
HelpAge International started working in
the Gaza Strip in January 2009 following the December 2008 – January 2009 conflict. It is providing a developmental capacity building of non-state actors in addition to a humanitarian response for older people including provision of , psychosocial support, livelihoods support and physical rehabilitation. HelpAge seeks for one experienced committed professional for a full time post of “Finance & Support Services Manager”
JOB PURPOSE:
The Finance & Support Service Manager/ provides for general financial, administrative and logistics management for any on-going HelpAge activity in the Gaza strip, the management of financial risk and opportunities and the analysis of the financial- and logistics aspects for future proposals and/or reports. The Postholder directly line manages the logistics officer/security, for logistics aspects.
Duration of the contract: 12 months starting as of 30 March 2014.
Main qualifications
- Qualified Accountant (CCAB body or equivalent) or qualified by experience;
- Substantial relevant experience in a finance department in the field at an appropriate level, with sound understanding of logistics systems.
- Production and interpretation of management accounts; and advanced spreadsheet skills
- Co-operative and supportive team player in a cross-cultural environment.
- In-depth knowledge and experience of operating computerized accounting systems preferably SUN Systems.
- Experience in implementing human resources policies and practices
- Familiar with local labour laws and statutory requirements in oPt
- Current Drivers Licence.
- Strong understanding of security/safety
- Ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines
- Financial and logistic experience with INGO’s/commercial sector
- Fluent written and spoken English.
- Excellent computer skills in MS Word, Excel (or other spreadsheets) and word processing.
Desirable:
- Knowledge and experience of ageing and issues facing older people in emergencies/chronic crisis
- Strong understanding of humanitarian policy and principles and challenges
- Donor reporting experience
